Welcome to Long Angus in Louisiana!
Offering the finest in Angus & Black Baldy cattle bloodlines & genetics.
Long Angus Farm was established in 1958 by Jesse Long and currently sits on 250 acres of cattle land along with 5 broiler houses. In 1973 the farm went to purebred all angus herd and worked towards creating a high quality herd.
The herd has been closed since the late 70's and strictly females were raised with over 5 to 6 generations of cows in the current herd.
Richard Long Graduated from Louisiana Tech in 1972 with a business degree. In 1978 he and his late brother, Billy Wayne, bred and raised the champion female and reserve champion bull at the LSU Spring show. Richard Long
was on the board of directors of the Louisiana Angus Association and served multiple terms. He ran the Davison cattle operation from '76 to '86 which consisted of 80 head of cross bred Brahman and large group of Hereford cattle.
He was onvinced then to go all Angus and brought the first angus bull that was a certified meat sire to North Louisiana. That bull was 0100 owned by Ned Biffles from Allen Oklahoma.
New genetics were then introduced by using different breeds of bulls. This herd has proven itself by breeding Brahman and horned Hereford bulls and raising top quality replacement heifers.
Hard work and passion to strive for success is what has made Long Angus what it is today. We have 80 head of main purebred angus cattle and two horned Hereford bulls registered from Dudley brothers as well as a purebred angus sire
from Wehnerman Angus.
We pull out 20 cows that have the best qualities in the Angus industry and breed back to Angus sires. None of these cattle were bought - they were all raised here.
We sell High quality replacement heifers and top of the line Angus herd sires that will add premium genetics to any herd.
